In addition to her dance and fitness credentials, Michelle has a Masters in Counseling. She puts her degree to use in DVDs such as Secrets of the Stage, which discusses emotional preparation for performing and addresses common problems such as stage fright. Michelle is very active in the production process. From writing scripts and shooting footage, to designing covers and general marketing, she takes great pride in the products she produces. All of the DVDs are edited personally by Michelle in order to assure that they are presented with a dancer's eye and organized to assure optimum convenience for the viewer. Michelle actively continues to perform and teach belly dance. She has had the honor of performing for audiencess in Turkey, India, Japan, The Bahamas, Australia, Mexico, and the United States. She is an active member of her local belly dance community and fights to convince the mainstream public that belly dance is a legitimate art form that deserves respect. Cheeky Girls Productions is committed to producing quality DVDs with professional dancers in an environment of dignity and respect. We try to equally showcase popular, in-demand dancers and lesser known, but equally talented, ones. All of the dancers featured were nominated by fellow artists. Our goal is to capture the dance the way the artist intended it, so the feedback of the dancers is inherent to the editing process. Each dancer personally supervises the editing of their piece and has full and final say over how they are represented. Contrary to common industry standards, our collective allows dancers to get their instructional and performance DVDs at cost, thereby allowing each individual artist to independently distribute and profit financially from their artistic contributions.
Our DVDs have enjoyed a recent wave of popularity and are consistently among the top sellers on Amazon (see current Amazon top sellers list). We fill both small and large orders to retailers as well as license our content for overseas markets intersted in dubbing the DVDs into their native languages. Cheeky Girls Productions is owned by Michelle Joyce, a professional belly dancer and personal trainer. With the help of her husband, Steve Fyffe, a TV producer for ABC, Michelle produced her first DVD in January of 2007. By Dancers For Dancers Volume 1 was an experimental project with local dancers who pooled their resources to get the DVD made. We were pleasantly surprised by it's success and have produced several supplemental volumes that feature dancers who are top professionals, yet underrepresented in other mainstream productions.
